Startup City – A few thoughts on the Internet and marketing

Startup City – A few thoughts on the Internet and marketing

Introduction This might be the inner/outer nerd in me talking, but we’re getting really close to that time in Star Trek when people stopped being that way that we are now, and started trying to better themselves. Re: Captain Pickard Star Trek Insurrection. Getting close but not there yet, however, the Internet is that sliver of Star Trek that we have now, and it is all about sharing. Yes, there are trolls out there, and yes it is a scary place sometime, but at its core, it has made the sharing Read more [...]

Building the Scenes – How to make your video valuable through SEO

Introduction It is probably the first thought on everyone’s mind’s these days; clients are always asking us, how do you make this video go really viral? To me, it’s kind of one of those over-used and over-saturated buzz words, and what people really mean by viral is how does this give us a quick return on investment; and there lies the problem; there’s no such thing, unless you’re gambling, and I for one don’t like to gamble. If you want a real return on your time and energy to produce Read more [...]

Startup City – Tips for using a homepage video in your company brand marketing

Introduction When visitors come to your website, what do they see? This can be a hot topic, especially if you’re not happy with the current look and feel of your website. Generally, when you get traffic, the homepage is the first page they see. This is your first impression, and you want that impression to be amazing, but you also want it to convey the nuances of your business to your customer; those things that separate you from your competitors. This is part of your story, and a Read more [...]

Startup City – How to use video in marketing

Startup City – How to use video in marketing

Introduction If a video is not a part of your strategic marketing initiative, and it really should be, then you are potentially missing out on an opportunity to reach an audience 24/7. I would argue that it is a necessary objective, although, I run a video production company, and might be somewhat biased. If you’re pondering whether or not to take on a video production, you might want to consider some of these points before you get too caught up in the project and end up wasting time, or (Yikes!) Sh’Blap video promo

http://blip.tv/shia-productions/sh-blap-pilot-promo-3246457 Produced in Spanish Harlem, New York, Sh’Blap is the docu-comedy that follows dancers Dewitt Fleming and Jared Grimes in their endless search for the beat. The film became a pilot for consideration on public television, and featured the stars traveling throughout the east cost exploring dance as a performance art. The pilot was shot on a Panasonic DVX100 and edited on an Avid Symphony, during the heyday of tape workflow, and employed Read more [...]

What is guerilla marketing?

What is guerilla marketing The term guerilla marketing has taken on so many faces and meanings, that it has become somewhat clichéd. However, it is still a viable method, generally employed by small businesses and individuals to get the word out on their products and services. My favorite definition for guerilla marketing is the act of making your marketing effective, regardless of resources and obstacles, and generally with small achievable tasks. Best when short, fast, and with clear objectives Guerilla Read more [...]

Tomorrow Labs Promotional Video

Tomorrow Labs Promotional Video

This is probably one of the best videos I’ve produced. It’s also the most recent example, where we really wanted to raise the bar. Production was a ballet of DSLR cameras, Zoom recorders and Steadicams during the Tomorrow Labs event in May 2012. The resulting video was edited using Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 and color graded using SpeedGrade CS6. Thanks for everyone’s hard work and I’m thrilled at how it turned out!

Day three of the Cinequest project saw all parts of the video process coming together, and mainly involved the postproduction elements. I was so pleased that we had 100% completion from all participants that started at the beginning of the camp. Check out the video here and let us know your thoughts!

Thanks for wishing me a happy birthday!
